Identify

You say who you are — an email, a username, a badge number.

Authenticate

You prove it — a password, and in the real world a second factor (MFA) an attacker can't fake.

Authorize

The system decides what you're allowed to touch — your course, and nothing more.

Audit

The login is written down — who, when, from where — so it can be reviewed later.
